The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a General Flood Advisory #13 for Region 8 (Eastern Visayas) due to heavy rainfall brought by Tropical Depression ‘Gener’.

As of 3:00 AM today, ‘Gener’ was estimated to be in the vicinity of Alicia, Isabela, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h. The depression is moving westward at a speed of 30 km/h.

Light to moderate rains and thunderstorms are expected in the region over the next 12 hours.

Several rivers and tributaries in the provinces of Eastern Samar, Biliran, Northern Samar, and Samar are likely to be affected by the heavy rainfall. This includes rivers like Oras, Dolores, Ulot, Taft, Borongan, Suribiao, Llorente, Balangiga, Sulat, Catarman, Bugko, Pambujan, Catubig, Palapag, Mawo, Gamay, Basey, Silanga, Calbiga, and Jibatan.

Residents living near mountain slopes and in low-lying areas of the affected river systems are advised to take necessary precautionary measures. Local disaster risk reduction and management councils are also urged to be on alert and prepare for potential flooding.
