The Provincial Government of Biliran, in partnership with the Biliran Chamber of Commerce, has contracted the LCT ASC Susan for barging services to assist in the transportation needs of the province. The barge is set to arrive in Biliran tomorrow, as announced by Governor Gerard Espina.

The Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Biliran will cover the monthly rental expenses of the barge using the calamity fund. Fuel charges will be managed through daily operations to ensure long-term sustainability of the service.

While awaiting the clearance of pathways at the Leyte and Biliran ports, the barge will remain on standby in Naval, ready for deployment once conditions are safe for operation. The pathway clearance efforts, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), are currently delayed due to persistent rainy weather, which has softened the filling materials used for port and pathway preparation.
