The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Almeria is setting its sights on earning the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) for the third consecutive year, as it actively participated in a Focused Group Discussion (FGD) and Onsite Assessment organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Biliran.

The activity is part of the “Pagpangandam: A Knowledge Sharing and Capacity-Building Dialogue with Local Government Units for the 2025 SGLG” initiative, which aims to strengthen LGU preparedness for the rigorous evaluation process. Institutionalized under Republic Act 11292, the SGLG recognizes exemplary local government performance across ten key governance areas, emphasizing integrity, accountability, and meaningful local autonomy.

LGU Almeria’s dedication to meeting the “All-In” criteria was evident as it worked closely with DILG Biliran to address gaps, enhance its programs, and ensure compliance with national standards. The municipality, already a two-time SGLG awardee, is determined to maintain its streak and continue delivering excellent governance and service to its constituents.

DILG Biliran reiterated its commitment to supporting LGUs in achieving their governance goals through initiatives like the “Pagpangandam” series. These sessions provide critical insights, compliance tools, and strategies to help local governments excel in the SGLG evaluation and raise the bar for public service.

LGU Almeria’s pursuit of a third SGLG award underscores its dedication to continuous improvement and community-centered leadership. With preparations in full swing, the municipality is poised to uphold its reputation as a model of good governance in the province.
