The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Almeria proudly brought home the coveted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award for 2024 during the awarding ceremony held on December 9, 2024, at the Manila Hotel.

This recognition marks a significant milestone for Almeria, making it one of only three awardees in the Province of Biliran and among the distinguished 53 recipients in Region VIII. The SGLG Award is a testament to the LGU’s commitment to excellence, transparency, and effective public service. Along with the honor, the LGU will also receive an incentive from the SGLG Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) amounting to ₱1,153,000.00, which will further support its development initiatives.

The award was received by Hon. Mayor Richard D. Jaguros and Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Bernarda M. Saboy, symbolizing the collaborative efforts of the LGU and its stakeholders in achieving this prestigious recognition.

LGU Almeria extends its heartfelt gratitude to the unwavering support and dedication of the department heads of LGU Almeria, the Department of Education (DepEd), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Philippine National Police (PNP). Their collective efforts, commitment to excellence, and partnership have been instrumental in securing this remarkable achievement.

The Seal of Good Local Governance, conferred by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), recognizes local government units that demonstrate integrity and competence in governance, financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, business friendliness, peace and order, and environmental management.

This award highlights Almeria’s unwavering dedication to creating a better and more sustainable community, setting a benchmark for excellence in local governance in Biliran and beyond.
