The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Biliran has taken swift action in response to the declaration of a state of calamity due to the recent incident affecting the Biliran Bridge.

DTI Biliran, led by Provincial Director Jojo Gayas, has submitted recommendations to DTI Regional Office 8 regarding a Price Freeze List for Basic Necessities. This initiative ensures that prices remain stable and accessible to the public, reflecting the latest price monitoring conducted before the state of calamity declaration.

To oversee compliance and monitoring, a Price Freeze Monitoring Team has been established. This team is tasked with conducting price monitoring activities to maintain fairness in the marketplace. A Situational Report detailing the team’s findings and actions has also been submitted to the authorities.

Furthermore, DTI Regional Office 8 has requested the DTI Consumer Protection and Advocacy Bureau (CPAB) to publish the Price Freeze List for public dissemination. This request is in compliance with Panlalawigan Resolution No. 321, Series of 2024, issued on December 27, 2024.

The Price Freeze is a crucial measure to protect consumers during this state of calamity, ensuring the availability and affordability of essential goods for the people of Biliran.
