The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Almeria, Biliran, proudly received recognition at the 24th Gawad KALASAG National and Regional Awarding Ceremonies held at the People’s Center and Library in Tacloban City on December 02, 2024. The award highlights Almeria’s exceptional efforts and achievements in disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM).

Representing the LGU during the event, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Bernarda M. Saboy and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (MDRRMO) Richard Sanoy were honored to accept the accolade. The Gawad KALASAG (Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan, Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan) is a national recognition program by the Philippine government, aimed at acknowledging exemplary efforts in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.
